AMICO Racing hits the track at TMP

This past weekend the Amico Race team spent a day testing at Toronto Motorsports Park in Cayuga. This was the first time at the track for some of the guys and everyone was impressed with the technical nature of the track. Despite near freezing temperatures Dean Fantin put in some respectable times while struggling for grip, even showing his rear bumper to a new Audi R8 V10 which has several hundred more horsepower than our BMW 330i. Once Dean was comfortable with the car he turned it over to young gun Corey Cacciavillani, Corey immediately impressed the team with his smoothness and respect for the equipment. After he settled into a rhythm with the help of engineer Simon Payne, Corey set some consistent fast laps in the Labourers Union/KML Building Solutions BMW.

Amico Racing is now focused on their 2011 Castrol Canadian Touring Car campaign which kicks off at Mosport in May. Although this sounds like a long ways away there is a massive amount of work that must take place between now and then. Every single component of the car must be removed and inspected, the main and back up engines must be rebuilt and Dyno’d. The team will start going over all the data from 2010 trying to find more speed, not only on the race track but also in the way the team functions each weekend. See you at the track in 2011!

Amico Racing is participating in the Castrol Canadian Touring Car Championship for their second year in 2010, last year they finished 9th in the Championship. Amico Racing is supported by the Labourers Union, KML Building Solutions, Aon Insurance and many more. Check them out at http://www.amicoracing.com/
