Lapcevich looking for strong finish to 2010 NASCAR season; Kawartha Speedway event closes successful campaign for Grimsby racer

September 24, 2010, GRIMSBY, ON –Jeff Lapcevich hopes to finish his racing season Saturday night the same way he started – on the podium. Lapcevich will complete the 2010 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series schedule when he competes at Kawartha Speedway near Peterborough.
The Tim Hortons-sponsored Fastline Motorsports team has enjoyed a stellar racing season despite a few setbacks along the way. A podium finish at Kawartha Speedway would give the team great momentum to prepare for 2011.
“We’ve been fast this season on a consistent basis,” said Lapcevich. “We’ve proven to ourselves we can contend for wins virtually everywhere we go. I’m excited about ending the year on a high note.”
The team expected good results in last weekend’s race at Riverside International Speedway, near Antigonish, Nova Scotia. Handling issues plagued the team, and Lapcevich settled for a ninth place finish after qualifying fourth.
While the season-ending Komatsu 300 has never been kind to the Grimsby veteran, the 2010 season results show that he is competitive everywhere.
Lapcevich opened the season with four consecutive top-10 finishes, and with a top-10 at Kawartha he would end the year with three straight top-10 finishes. His best result in two previous Kawartha starts is 13th in 2009.
“I’m not worried that we haven’t finished well at Kawartha,” said Lapcevich. “I know Bucket (Rob Torrey – Lapcevich’s crew chief) will have a great set-up on the car. We’ve been fast everywhere this year.
“It definitely makes the team happier when we’re as competitive as we have been. There’s alot more smiling going on at the shop these days.”
