BROCKVILLE , ON - A few months back, the Brockville Braves put home ice advantage to good use as they won the Junior A Fred Page Cup. Kingston's Danny O'Brien is hoping that home track advantage will do the same thing for him as the 9 time Brockville Ontario Speedway track champ goes for his first ever 358 Modified Super DIRT Series championship on Saturday afternoon at the Beast of the East.
O'Brien has been close before finishing as high as second in the series in the past, but this time it's different. The driver of the Global Warranty Thousand Islands RV 7* has the lead going into the final race of the trail, on his home track and with the Northeast DIRTcar Fall Nationals sponsored by his main backer. The Pocket Rocket leads Rochester's Danny Johnson, one of the very best to ever race a Modified, by 10 points and the man they call Mr. Small Block Pete Bicknell of St. Catherines by 15 markers.
Tickets are still on sale for the big weekend from October 15 to 17th that starts with Full Fender Friday that includes the final event of the DIRT Pro Stock tour along with a Street Stock invitational on Friday night, 360 Saturday with the 360 Sprint cars and the final event in the Super DIRT Series for 358 Modifieds on Saturday and of course, the final race in the DIRT Sportsman series on Sunday teamed with the next to last race in the Big Block series and the Vintage cars on Sunday. Tickets can be ordered through the track office by phoning 613-345-6324.
