Topeka, KS (January 18, 2011) – WC Vision announced today that OPTIMAÒ Batteries will return as the Official Battery of the World Challenge Championships and Sports Car Wars for the 2011 season. It will be OPTIMA Batteries’ third straight year as an official World Challenge sponsor, and all World Challenge racecars will be outfitted with the product known worldwide as the leading high-performance battery for automotive and marine applications.
As it did during the 2010 season, OPTIMA will bring the full field to a start with the "drivers, start your engines” command from pit lane during all 12 World Challenge Championship races along with the popular OPTIMA Batteries Best Standing Start Award.
“We are excited about OPTIMA Batteries' continued partnership with World Challenge and the race teams during the 2011 season,” said Cam Douglass, Director of Product Development and Marketing for OPTIMA Batteries. “The OPTIMA brand is all about high-performance and we love proving this on the race track during each event.”
World Challenge fans watching the races at the track, on Versus in HD, or at world-challengetv.com will see which driver earned the OPTIMA Batteries Best Standing Start Award – given to the driver who makes up the most positions on the run down to Turn 1. World Challenge continues to be the only North American sports car series featuring the dramatic standing start.
OPTIMA Batteries will also be the presenting sponsor of the Victoria Day Speedfest at Mosport International Raceway on May 20-22, 2011.
"Optima Batteries has been a tremendous partner over the last number of seasons" said Dave Drimmie, WC Vision's VP, Marketing and Communications. “Optima Batteries are a proven top high-performance power plant, a perfect match for the demands our racecars encounter throughout the season.”
OPTIMA YellowTop®, RedTop®, and BlueTop® batteries are available through leading battery distributors across the globe. Consumers should look for the unique colored top and six-pack design for which OPTIMA is known throughout the world. For the nearest retailer, visit www.optimabatteries.com.
