15th place rewards Jocelyn Fecteau’s season

Mirabel (Québec), September 12, 2010.- Jocelyn Fecteau and Media Racing Team completed their 2010 season when they entered the last double header of the Canadian Touring Car Championship this weekend at the ICAR facility, just north of Montreal. The last rounds on the calendar gave enough points to the Mont-St-Grégoire driver to end up in the Top 15 in the final standings. With a 13th place in the first round on Saturday, the goal was reached.

With a racing car handicapped with electronic gremlins all season long, Media Racing Team did not expect a miracle when they arrived in the paddocks at the Mirabel ICAR race track. “In 2009, for our maiden season, our performances improved steadily throughout the rounds”, analyses Jocelyn Fecteau,” with our first podium coming at the Toronto Indy Grand Prix. But our second campaign was disappointing after we struggled with relentless engine management problems, forcing us to settle with farther positioning on the grid.”

“At Mirabel, we managed to complete the Saturday round in 13th position. But we ran into problems again on Sunday when we had to stop at the halfway mark,” he adds. The XRS Toyota Corolla steered by Jocelyn Fecteau was shod with a stock four banger for this last meeting, in order to counter the electronic management bug. To no avail. Nevertheless, the final standings will show Media Racing Team and its driver in 15th place overall, out of 29 entrants in the Touring class.

“The team is already excited about next year’s project,” explains Fecteau. “We have very little resources when it comes to developing our present car. We talked with the series officials in order to be granted some modifications to make our car more powerful and more reliable for 2011. On the other hand, we are considering shelving this car for a completely new project we are feverishly working on at this time. One thing is certain, we can confirm Media Racing Team will enter two cars next year with the second car being driven by Trois-Rivières native Luc Lesage. Luc has a wealth of experience, having raced Formula Atlantic and 1600 single seaters and more recently Toyota Echo Cup.”

Media Racing Team took part in eight rounds of the Canadian Touring Car Championship in 2010, realising five Top 15 and one Top 10 (Indy Toronto Grand Prix). “This season was nowhere near satisfying but our partners stayed on board and I owe to thank them for their commitment. Our racing adventure will have a sequel. See you in 2011 !” concludes Jocelyn Fecteau.
