SIMONE SCORES TOP-TEN AT BARRIE

September 11, 2010. Anthony Simone and the #95 Rx100 team looked to bounce back from disappointment in Montreal at a track where they scored the pole position last year. For round number eleven of the NASCAR Canadian Tire series at Barrie Speedway near Barrie, Ontario that’s exactly what they did.

The #95 Rx100 team posted consistent times during the afternoon practice session and during their qualifying run would claim the sixth fastest time. “The car felt good all day and I was confident we would have a strong running race car to start the race” said Simone. “The whole team did a great job as usual” he added.

When the green flag waved on the 300 lap feature event the #95 Rx100 team Chevrolet delivered as expected. Simone was able to run in and around the top-five without issue. “The car was really good at the start of the race” said the driver. Simone however would fall victim to contact and drop several positions.

After a pit stop for adjustments Simone began to maneuver the #95 Rx100 car forward again until a handling issue slowed his progress. “In the middle part of the race the car just got really tight” explained the driver. “We worked on it but it took a little time for us to get the car adjusted”.

Even with the spin and the ill handling car in the middle stages Simone for the most part continued to keep the #95 Rx100 Chevrolet in the top-ten. “In the late stages the car was much better and I was able to keep pushing” he stated.

As the field formed up for the final re-start of the night with only ten laps remaining Simone continued to push the #95 Rx100 Chevrolet but wouldn’t take unnecessary chances. Simone would take the checkered flag with a seventh place finish, a strong result considering the obstacles the team had to overcome. “The car came around again at the end” said the driver. “I got what I could in the final laps and we’re coming out of Barrie with a seventh place finish, the car looks great, that’s an accomplishment” he stated.

This is the sixth time this season the #95 Rx100 team has finished inside the top-ten and Simone sits ninth in the overall championship point standings.

The #95 Rx100 Chevrolet team with Anthony Simone will next compete on Saturday September 18th at Riverside Speedway near Antigonish, Nova Scotia in round twelve of the NASCAR Canadian Tire series. All races are broadcast on TSN and you’ll soon see a newly renovated team website.
