Montreal, QC (August 29, 2010) NASCAR driver Pierre Bourque returned to action in the #00 Telus/Avaya Dodge for round ten of the NASCAR Canadian Tire series this past weekend at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal, QC. Bourque once again demonstrated his ability to move his race car forward through a competitive field of cars.
With the largest entry list of the season Bourque qualified the #00 Telus/Avaya Dodge twentieth and started the race in the middle of the field. “We had an awesome start to the race” said Bourque. “The car was just terrific, we were able to avoid some of the carnage that was happening and caused a few caution periods early” he added.
Not only was Bourque able to avoid the trouble that found other drivers he quickly moved his #00 Telus/Avaya Dodge forward. “We went right up to about thirteenth spot and things were going very well for us” said the driver.
Past the midway point the fortunes took a turn for the worse for the #00 Telus/Avaya Dodge. “As happens in the race heading down to the hairpin everyone bunches up and I got bumped and that spun me around” said Bourque whose troubles were just beginning. “After that I got tagged by someone else and that broke my steering”.
At first Bourque didn’t realize how severely the #00 Telus/Avaya Dodge had been damaged. “I didn’t realize until I was heading down the long straightaway” said Bourque. “When I noticed the steering wasn’t responding I had to slow down and head for pit lane that ended our day”
Though disappointed with the final finishing result Bourque was pleased with how the #00 Telus/Avaya Dodge performed before contact knocked them out. “The car was running beautifully, we gained a bunch of spots, we were doing well for our sponsor Telus it’s just too bad we got bumped and couldn’t finish what we’d started. A top-ten was in our sights”
