FRASERVILLE, ON - After an off weekend, the excitement returns to Kawartha Speedway Friday, August 27th. Fans will be treated to a full night of action with the Hasiuk Trailer and Container Rental Mini Stocks, Better Carpet Thunder Cars and NAPA Auto Parts ACT Late Models. The highlight of the night will be a 50 lap invitational feature for the thunder cars. Also on the show will be the first of back-to-back appearances by the Ontario Legends Series. Competing on a variety of tracks throughout the year, 2009 series champion and current point leader Adam Cuthbertson says of all the venues where they run, Kawartha is his favourite.
“You can build-up a lot of speed on those long straightaways and the banking allows you to keep that momentum going through the corners”, said Cuthbertson. “Sometimes, we can end-up running 3 or 4 wide. It’s fun for the drivers and puts on a tremendous show for the fans”.
Enthusiasts of the Legends Series will get 2 chances to see their favourite racers on the popular 3/8th mile oval. The rescheduling to Friday, September 10th of the rain delayed Summer Sizzler created the need to add a new race date of September 3rd to the calendar. The Hasiuk Trailer and Container Rental Mini Stocks will run a 50 lap invitational, along with regular distance events for the Better Carpet Thunder Cars and NAPA Auto Parts ACT Late Models. The following week, the late models will run their 3 segment, 150 lap Summer Sizzler for a $3,000.00 payday as part of a 3 division show that will also include the Ontario Pro Challenge Series. For Friday, September 10th only, gates will open at 2:00 with racing taking the green flag at 6:00.
The 2010 campaign is Kawartha Speedway’s 10th Anniversary season and culminates with the annual NASCAR Canadian Tire Series finale Saturday, September 25th. Fans can get full details at www.kawarthaspeedway.com.
