NAPA Sportsman Superseries: Ross wins Wedgepost Lobster 100 at Lake Doucette Motor Speedway

LAKE DOUCETTE, NS (August 21, 2010) - The Wedgeport Lobster 100 was rich for Steve Ross as the Waverley sportsman driver pocketed $7,350 for his win in Saturday's race for the Napa Sportsman Superseries at Lake Doucette Motor Speedway, near Yarmouth, NS. Ross led 80 of 100 laps en route to Victory Lane and beat Memramcook NB's Marc Garutreau to the finish line by 1.53-seconds. Clark's Harbour's Colby Smith was third in an event that saw 27 entries in front of a full house.

The winner's bounty was comprised of the $5,000 guaranteed to the winner plus $20 for each of the 80 laps he led, plus $500 for leading at 1/2 way, and another $250 for winning the first heat race.

The Wedgeport Lobster 100 saw four lap leaders; besides Ross, Frank Fraser Jr. led 11 laps, Kyle Butler led three laps and Gautreau led six  laps. There were 18 cautions in the event that took a little more than three hours to complete.

Ross was just 23 points out of first place in Napa Sportsman Superseries point standings entering the Wedgeport Lobster 100. Scott Allen was first and Frank Fraser Jr. was second (823/802/800 - respectively), so Ross is poised to move into second and perhaps even first when the series standings are released later this week.

Other heat race winners were Fraser, Jr., Frank Hurlburt and James Graves.
