DEREK WHITE GAINS NINE POSITIONS AT TROIS RIVIERES

August 15, 2010. Derek White returned to his home province of Quebec for round number eight of the NASCAR Canadian Tire series at the Grand Prix of Trois Riveres and the #99 Mohawk Market/DPW/OCR Gaz Bar Chevrolet Race Team had one of their most productive races of the season.

As White began practice with the #99 Mohawk Market/DPW/OCR Gaz Bar Chevrolet he worked with the team to improve the performance of the car. “The car wasn’t too bad in practice” said White but I knew that we could be even better than we had shown” he added. Unfortunately during qualifying the car wasn’t much better and White would begin the race Sunday afternoon from the twenty third starting spot.

Before the race the #99 Mohawk Market/DPW/OCR Gaz Bar team went to work to improve the race car. “We changed the rear springs to help with the handling” said White. “We thought that would help us during the race”.

The change made a noticeable difference in the performance of the #99 Mohawk Market/DPW/OCR Gaz Bar Chevrolet. “The changes that the team made to the car really helped with the handling a lot” said White. “I was able to get through the corners a lot better. That’s so important here with the concrete walls so close all around you” he stated.

White would continue to push the #99 Mohawk Market/DPW/OCR Gaz Bar Chevrolet forward throughout the event taking advantage of the better handling. When the checkered flag waved to conclude the race White had gained a total of nine positions and finished a very satisfying fourteenth. “I had a lot of fun today. I learned a lot again today and I’m very happy with how this race turned out. The team worked really hard and made good adjustments. We had a really good race” concluded the driver.

Derek White and the #99 DPW/OCR Gas Bar Team are scheduled to race next on Saturday August 21st at Mosport Speedway near Bowmanville, ON. The team is scheduled to compete in all thirteen series races this season. As in years past all NCATS races will also be seen on TSN.
